Alistair Irvine, Company Director
What’s your role at Orian? I have overall responsibility for all of Orian’s activates with particular focus on business development through new opportunities, developing our range of service offers as well as marketing and company branding. I can be contacted for any potential new sales opportunities or enquires about services we can offer. I work with a wide range of colleagues including Operations, Finance, Human Resources, IT and Systems, Health and Safety, Marketing / PR and Procurement.
What do you enjoy most about your role? The aspect of my role I enjoy most is establishing Orian in new territory and gaining new contracts to strengthen our business and working with colleagues to deliver excellence in all that we do.
What’s your favourite meal? Having lived in Greece in my early years this really influenced me to eat a Mediterranean diet, lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and fresh meat and fish. I also really love Chinese cuisine.
What’s your favourite football team? The Magpies of course – the mighty Newcastle United
What’s your favourite holiday destination? Difficult one – but I love Rhodes and Tenerife for Sunshine and cities like Rome and Paris for history and culture.
Joanne Devlin, Senior HR Advisor

My role is to provide guidance and best practice advice on the full range of HR matters including resourcing, employee relations, performance, learning and development, reward and employee engagement. I handle employee and management queries on a daily basis, and where guidance is needed in relation to a company Policies and procedure.
Where’s your favourite travel destination? I love to travel and would find it hard to pick one place, so for beauty and picturesque views I would say Innsbruck, for lively atmosphere and amazing beaches I would say Cuba, for food Italy. A place I go back to regularly is Dublin as it holds special memories for me as the city I was married in.
Chris Nixon, Company Accountant
What’s your role at Orian?
I’m the Company Accountant working with the rest of the finance team, based in Carlisle.
Tell us about your role?
As the Company Accountant I am of course primarily responsible for the company’s finances, but I also get involved in various other functions of the business, ranging from; IT, payroll, pensions and sales. People can get in touch with me if they have a query about an invoice (whether it be ours or yours), or indeed if you have any query that is of a financial nature. Sad as it sounds, I love preparing the accounts for the Company – working with spreadsheets and crunching numbers gets me out of bed in the morning……that and a lively sprocker spaniel that needs plenty of walks every day!
What’s your favourite football team?
I am unashamedly a ‘Northern Chelsea Supporter’ – and have followed the mighty blues since I was a teenager which, unfortunately, is long enough ago to mean that I was indeed a fan prior to the Abramovich era (in case there’s any accusation of me being a glory hunter)
Simon Bowman, Environmental Health and Safety Manager
Tell us about your role? I am the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for Orian and I am responsible for all aspects of day to day health and safety within Orian operations.
If our teams require some Health and safety support or advice or need to report an accident then they will contact me.
In general my job involves meeting and communicating with people from all areas of the organisation. My role is very diverse and there always seems to be something new to get your teeth into every day.
What’s your favourite meal? If I was on death row then my last meal would be condensed milk sandwiches followed by bread and butter pudding.
Paula David, Account Manager – Specialist Cleaning
Tell us about your role? I look after all the specialist type cleaning requirements including high level cleaning, environmental cleans, deep cleans, builders and sparkle cleans or house clearances. We have teams of specialist cleaners and I manage those teams. I organise the teams assigning jobs, carry out risk assessments, meet with clients, look after invoicing and work to develop new sales opportunities. I love my job, I enjoy building relationships with our clients and with my colleagues. Each day is different. I also love targets! I really enjoy working towards something and then exceeding it!

What’s your favourite football team? Unfortunately for me, it’s Sunderland! It’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions every year from ridiculously (and unrealistically) high hopes at the beginning of the season to bitter disappointment about half way through and to the end of it….
