Meet the Orian Team

Meet the expert Orian team, who can help you with all your cleaning, school meals catering and safety needs.

Alistair Irvine, Company Director

What’s your role at Orian?  I have overall responsibility for all of Orian’s activates with particular focus on business development through new opportunities, developing our range of service offers as well as marketing and company branding.  I can be contacted for any potential new sales opportunities or enquires about services we can offer.  I work with a wide range of colleagues including Operations, Finance, Human Resources, IT and Systems, Health and Safety, Marketing / PR and Procurement.

What do you enjoy most about your role? The aspect of my role I enjoy most is establishing Orian in new territory and gaining new contracts to strengthen our business and working with colleagues to deliver excellence in all that we do.

What’s your favourite meal? Having lived in Greece in my early years this really influenced me to eat a Mediterranean diet, lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and fresh meat and fish.  I also really love Chinese cuisine.

What’s your favourite football team? The Magpies of course – the mighty Newcastle United

What’s your favourite holiday destination? Difficult one – but I love Rhodes and Tenerife for Sunshine and cities like Rome and Paris for history and culture.

Joanne Devlin, Senior HR Advisor

What is your role at Orian? My role is to provide guidance and best practice advice on the full range of HR matters including resourcing, employee relations, performance, learning and development, reward and employee engagement.  I handle employee and management queries on a daily basis, and where guidance is needed in relation to a company Policies and procedure.

Where’s your favourite travel destination? I love to travel and would find it hard to pick one place, so for beauty and picturesque views I would say Innsbruck, for lively atmosphere and amazing beaches I would say Cuba, for food Italy. A place I go back to regularly is Dublin as it holds special memories for me as the city I was married in.

Chris Nixon, Company Accountant

What’s your role at Orian?

I’m the Company Accountant working with the rest of the finance team, based in Carlisle.

Tell us about your role?

As the Company Accountant I am of course primarily responsible for the company’s finances, but I also get involved in various other functions of the business, ranging from; IT, payroll, pensions and sales.  People can get in touch with me if they have a query about an invoice (whether it be ours or yours), or indeed if you have any query that is of a financial nature.  Sad as it sounds, I love preparing the accounts for the Company – working with spreadsheets and crunching numbers gets me out of bed in the morning……that and a lively sprocker spaniel that needs plenty of walks every day!

What’s your favourite football team?

I am unashamedly a ‘Northern Chelsea Supporter’ – and have followed the mighty blues since I was a teenager which, unfortunately, is long enough ago to mean that I was indeed a fan prior to the Abramovich era (in case there’s any accusation of me being a glory hunter)

Leonard Irvine, Account Manager

Tell us about your role? I am an Account Manager with Orian having joined the business in January 2017.  I am responsible for our foodservice contracts in the West of Cumbria as well as Secondary School accounts across the region.  In that capacity, I work directly with the schools to ensure we’re delivering a great service. I’m also working on a number of food related projects for the company.  I really enjoy the diversity of the role.

What’s your favourite football team? Everton

What’s your favourite meal? Paella

What’s your favourite holiday? Mexico

June Garner, Account Manager

Tell us about your role? I am an Account Manager looking after cleaning contracts and I’m responsible for a number of schools and commercial clients throughout the region.  I joined Orian in October 2016.  Along with my account management role, I am also responsible for administering the repair and maintenance of our equipment including PAT testing.  I work directly with our clients, discussing contracts, ensuring quality control is correct and making sure we are achieving the level of service expected and agreed.  I really enjoy it – I’m enjoying the new challenges.

What’s your favourite holiday destination? It’s Benalmadena in Spain as I have family over there. We’re regular visitors.

What’s your favourite meal? Got to be Chinese

What’s your favourite football team? I’ve got two, England and Carlisle Utd. I’ve travelled quite a lot following England to watch them play including Portugal and France.

Graeme Gunn, Director of Operations

Tell us about your role? I’m Director of Operations for Orian and responsible for all of the operational services we provide across our service portfolio, including foodservice, cleaning, fire extinguisher testing and maintenance and school crossing patrols. All of the senior operational management team report directly to me including all the Account Manager and administration management support.  It’s the diversity of the work that’s enjoyable and the fact that days just fly by!

What’s your favourite holiday destination? Calpe in Spain which I’ve been going to on and off since I was 14 and I have family over there.

What’s your favourite football team? Unfortunately for me, it’s Sunderland! It’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions every year from ridiculously (and unrealistically) high hopes at the beginning of the season to bitter disappointment about half way through and to the end of it….

Helen Burnett, Account Manager

Tell us about your role? I’m an Account Manager for Orian with specific responsibility for the South of Cumbria and down into the North West.  I look after both foodservice and cleaning accounts across the south of the county, Lancashire, Liverpool and Southport.  I enjoy that no two days are the same and that I work with lots of different people. You get a real sense of satisfaction out of doing a good job too.

What’s your favourite holiday destination? Mauritius.

What’s your favourite meal? Thai

What’s your favourite football team? I dislike football with a vengeance!
