Eight Weeks of Soup, Selling and Success!

March 9th, 2020

The past 8 weeks have been incredible as we’ve supported Newbarns Primary School’s Souper Soups enterprise as part of the Centre for Leadership Bright Stars competition. There have been so many brilliant moments, from interviewing candidates for the Board of Directors, to designing the logo and setting up a stall at Barrow Market – we want to do it all over again!

Today, we found out the total profit raised by the team – a tremendous £904.37 and will await the Judges’ decision on Thursday to see if the pupils have won one of the ten prizes on offer including Best Team Effort and Best Community Involvement. The support from the local community has been wonderful. Caterkwik in Ulverston purchased 100 soups and local MP Simon Fell even dropped by the children’s stall at Barrow market on Friday to wish them luck and help with serving customers. Our weekly soup deliveries to Furness Homeless Shelter (240 portions in total!) have also given the pupils a brilliant insight into the good that their business is doing in the local community. Caterite also kindly donated soup cartons and ingredients – a very generous contribution from our own trusted supplier.

We love taking part in this competition and know the children will have learnt some really valuable business skills for the future. We are so proud to have been teamed with such bright business brains!
