November Theme Days to Commemorate and Celebrate
November 2nd, 2017
Orian’s theme days in November will both commemorate and celebrate.
Within the schools which use Lunch Shop, Orian’s primary school meals service, we always seek to commemorate Remembrance Day and this year will be holding Poppy Day. A special menu has been devised by our catering team to mark this important day.
Also in November, our schools across the North of England including Newcastle-upon-Tyne, County Durham, Carlisle, Penrith, Barrow, Ulverston, Kendal and beyond will be marking National School Meals Week – an annual celebration to mark the importance of having a good, freshly prepared and served school meal.
To mark both, a specially-designed comic will be given to children taking school meals which is packed with fun competitions including Spot the Dog, puzzles and facts. They will also receive stickers.
Orian Director Alistair Irvine said: “It’s always very important to us at Orian that we properly commemorate Remembrance Day through the sharing of a special meal and it is a day which is very much enjoyed by the children.
“National School Meals Week is also something we like to mark and last year the comic and stickers which are given out as part of the celebrations were extremely popular – we had hundreds of entries for last year’s Spot the Sheep competition where children across the region won a tablet for successfully spotting where the sheep was!”
Orian freshly prepares and serves more than 13,000 school meals every day through Lunch Shop, its primary school meals service.
