Shiver me timbers, it’s Swashbuckling Pirates Week!
March 28th, 2017
Pupils and staff at schools across the North of England are set to enjoy Swashbuckling Pirate Week while they have their school lunches.
School meals provider Orian Solutions, who freshly prepare and serve more than 13,000 school meals a day, have organized the theme week where children can try different pirate-themed meals, try different cuisines and enjoy some pirate trivia and colouring on specially-designed placemats.
Children will be encouraged to bring in their favourite pirate-themed goodies including parrots, eye patches and hats to get into the spirit of the event.
The event is one of several organized by Orian who hold regular theme days and events to encourage children to try different flavours and to have fun while they enjoy their school lunch.
Director at Orian, Alistair Irvine, said: “Hopefully we’ll see the skull and crossbones flag flying at many of our schools during this fun week!
“These events are always much enjoyed by the children – in this case they’ll be learning a little about pirates while enjoying a sea-faring theme menu – there’ll be no grog or bottles of rum though!”
Other successful events held this year have included Dig for Victory Week. Great British Pudding Week and Fruity Friday. Orian have also provided all of our schools with seeds from which to grow fresh herbs as part of Grow with Orian Week and special reflective stickers to help children “be safe, be seen”.
