A well-deserved treat!

June 4th, 2018

At the root of everything we do are our hard-working and dedicated staff and we understand that a simple ‘Thank you’ can make a huge difference.

With this in mind, Orian recently surprised one of our longest-serving employees to a sumptuous afternoon tea and beautiful bouquet to say thanks for demonstrating not only dedication in her role but also a positive attitude that has led to her becoming a well-known and much-loved community figure…

Winnie Radcliffe has worked as School Crossing Patrol in Fell Lane, Penrith for 44 years and Orian are extremely proud to have such a wonderful employee on our team. Winnie brings so much to her role but it is her enthusiasm, positivity and professionalism that caught the attention of Area Coordinator Linda Stewart and Account Manager June Garner who collectively decided that Winnie deserved recognition for her work. Linda and June decided on a treat of Afternoon Tea and flowers and what better location than the George Hotel in Penrith where Winnie proudly patrols, ensuring the safety of hundreds of pupils and pedestrians each day. The treat came as a complete surprise to Winnie, who couldn’t stop smiling throughout. In between the shock and scones, we asked her about what she liked most about her role:

‘Orian is a good company to work for and I absolutely adore children and meeting people.’

When asked if she would ever tire of being an established and recognised community figure, Winnie laughed and said ‘never!’, followed by:

‘It’s such an interesting and happy job. I would definitely recommend school crossing patrol for anyone looking for work in and around Cumbria…especially anyone who loves children and is gregarious!’

We can’t thank Winnie enough for her efforts and hope that she felt truly spoilt!
